Even though Joe Biden did cross the “red line” and defied basic decency by calling Russia’s president Vladimir Putin a “soulless killer” in his March interview, where he threatened Russia with a number of hostile steps, less than a week later Putin offered his American counterpart to hold direct televised talks on air.

“I want to invite President Biden to continue our discussions, but on the condition that we actually do it live, online, but without any delay, and in an open direct discussion,” the Russian president said.

After months of deliberation, Joe Biden rejected Putin’s request for “live public conversation”, instead he suggested in a telephone conversation with Putin to hold a personal meeting to discuss the differences that exist between the two countries. At the same time, in its statement about the essence of the telephone conversation with Vladimir Putin that was initiated by Biden, the White House, persisted in threatening and edifying Russia, thus putting on display the overtly aggressive US position towards Moscow. However, one can’t help but wonder whether or not this stance can be described as appropriate, since it was the American president that proposed to hold a personal meeting?

Meanwhile, Biden’s proposal for a personal meeting with the Russian president is clearly an attempt to somehow whitewash the outright failures of the policies that Washington has been pursuing in recent months. Those failures may negatively affect not only the image of the sitting Biden administration, but also the US positions in the world.

The Biden administration’s desire to link the idea of the summit with the ongoing escalation of the conflict in Donbass is apparent, as this bloody civil war was staged and continues to be supported by the United States. Last April, according to Ukrainian media sources, Kyiv received yet another shipment of aid for its armed forces from the United States, with its estimated worth reaching 7.8 million dollars. According to the acting assistant secretary of state in the bureau of European and Eurasian affairs, Philip Ricker the question of new arms supplies to Ukraine is still a matter of consideration. This was stated during the recent visit of US secretary of state Anthony Blinken to Kyiv. At the same time, Ricker noted that the United States provides Ukraine with both significant lethal and non-lethal assistance and that this assistance is a matter of regular interactions between the US embassy and those who regularly contact Ukrainian officials. Although Ricker didn’t confirm the plans for new US arms supplies to Ukraine, he nevertheless recalled that the US Congress allocated 408 million dollars in 2021 to provide assistance to Ukraine “in the field of security.” At the same time, the Ukrainian defense ministry acknowledged that since the beginning of the civil war in the east of the country in 2014, Ukraine has already received more than 2 billion dollars worth of “assistance” from the United States.

Biden fears an even greater degradation of the situation around Donbass, as the United States has neither the desire nor the stomach to fight on the side of Ukraine. Therefore, the continuation of the war in Donbass, meaningless for Kyiv and its sponsors across the ocean, could lead to disastrous consequences for Ukraine, which in turn would be cast a strong blow to American prestige across the globe, and Biden seeks ways to avoid that development. In addition, Biden is fully aware of the US inability to deal with the latest Russian weapons, hence one of his first desires is to discuss Washington’s exit from the conflict that it created in Donbass without the US losing face.

It’s not clear where the proposed meeting between Biden and Putin is going to take place. A number of countries are being mentioned, but choosing one will be a very difficult task, notes Politico. The possible timing of the meeting has become more clear in recent days: as Biden is going to attend the G7 summit from June 11 to 13 in the UK, and on the next day after its closure he’s expected in Brussels at a NATO meeting. Somewhere around that time, the White House administration expects to schedule a meeting with the Russian president. That is, the Russian-American summit is not specially prepared, but is planned to be held “inter alia”, so as not to bother the American president with “unnecessary trips”. It seems that the only ones who are engage in special preparations are the prompters that will enable Biden to voice yet another volley of Russophobic remarks of the ruling political elite of the United States.

The publication notes that first Biden offers Russia to talk, and then introduce tough sanctions. It would seem that he leans towards detente, and then, a moment later, he aggravates the situation. It seems that he does not need a “reset”, but he is not interested in an open conflict. So is such a meeting necessary then?

In one of his recent speeches, Biden did mention the long history of rivalry between the two countries, yet he noted that both Washington and Moscow would find opportunities to manage tensions and protect relations from complete degradation that could render those tensions uncontrollable.

And that is true. In this regard, it is necessary to recall the sixth American president – John Quincy Adams, who in 1809-1814 was the US ambassador to Russia where he managed to establish good personal relations with the Russian Emperor Alexander I and the political elite of Russia. Adams actively contributed to the development and strengthening of bilateral relations between the two states. In recent history, joint efforts during the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962 and the visit of US President Richard Nixon to Moscow in 1972 have become a perfect example of how bilateral and global problems are to be resolved, against the backdrop of the problems that arose due Washington’s decision to abandon the Bretton Woods system, that resulted in the decoupling of the value of the dollar from gold. In the era of the energy crisis that followed this step, Gerald Ford would meet Leonid Brezhnev in Vladivostok in October of 1974 to discuss the possibilities of nuclear restrictions.

It is also impossible to ignore the Yalta Conference held in February 1945, which was not just a meeting of the leaders of Great Britain, the USSR, and the United States during the Second World War. It has ensured peace for many decades and provided the crucial foundation for building a system of international relations based on universal respect to each country.

Therefore, against the background of the current situation on the world stage, where we witness regular violations of international law, there’s a dire need to resolve a great many of both political and economic problems in a number of regions of the world. Moscow has repeatedly called for the convening of the new Yalta Conference. Vladimir Putin, speaking at the Holocaust Memorial Forum in Jerusalem in 2020, proposed to convene the Yalta-2 summit with the participation of Russia, the United States, China, France and the United Kingdom.

So why wouldn’t the US and Russian presidents take advantage of the situation and hold their meeting in Yalta, which would have the same historical and international significance as the legendary Yalta summit?

Ведь секрет успеха России достаточно прост, и единственная причина, почему западные страны раз за разом оказываются у разбитого корыта, заключается не только в их высокомерии и надменности, но и в неготовности отказаться от ничем не подкрепленных страхов, которые они же сами и придумали.

Так, сначала советский, а потом и российский подход к оказанию помощи Африке как будущему партнеру по международным делам куда больше нравится региональным лидерам, чем то пренебрежительное снисхождение, которое им выказывают в Вашингтоне и других западных столицах.

Уж кто-кто, а африканские страны явно не заслуживают подобного от неоколониальных потомков своих вчерашних угнетателей.

Что касается Ближнего Востока, то тут Россия берет верх за счет того, что она не устает подчеркивать свою давнюю духовную близость с Востоком, традиционными ценностями и принципами уважения своего собеседника. Москва, в отличие от Вашингтона, ни разу не попыталась выставить исламский мир в качестве этакой “скрытой угрозы”, к которой все должны внимательно присматриваться. Да и последовательная и убежденная поддержка, которую Россия оказывала сирийскому президенту Башару Асаду, не могла не найти восхищения в сердцах региональных лидеров!

Ну кто не хотел бы иметь такого союзника?

Что же касается давних страхов США о том, что русские спят и видят, как бы им не оставить и камня на камне от самой звездно-полосатой страны в мире, то тут автор рекомендует американским политикам обратить свое внимание на те документы, которые регулярно публикуются МИД РФ. Буквально в каждом из них говорится, что Россия готова к многоуровневому диалогу со всеми заинтересованными в том или ином вопросе сторонами, который способствовал бы торжеству международного права и мирного процесса.

Именно по этой причине, уверен автор, пока Вашингтон не изменит своей политики, он раз за разом будет удивляться тому, почему Владимир Путин опять смог дать Западу сто очков вперед.

Проще говоря, Россия понимает, что Иран играет важную роль в построении модели многополярного мира, равно как и то, что в случае падения Исламской Республики давление на неё со стороны США лишь усилится, а потому использует все имеющиеся рычаги, в том числе и дипломатические, для спасения Тегерана от той печальной судьбы, которая постигла другие государства-жертвы американской агрессии.

My fellow Americans, this report is addressed to you, and only to you. As a God-fearing and patriotic fellow citizen, I feel it is my duty to inform you our leadership has gone stark raving mad. Some of you will have already heard that United States leaders have passed a law to find out how much money Vladimir Putin has. Others, who may be under the impenetrable blanket of world order propaganda, may not know how U.S. taxpayers will now fund utter idiocy.

Last month something unprecedented happened. But, in the chaotic circus that is political and business policy these days, not too many people made a big deal of something called The Vladimir Putin Transparency Act. No, you are not having a delusion or an LSD flashback. The American people have elected representative to Congress who are this stupid and this crooked. This legislation defies not only logic, but everything we’ve been taught about the law.

Tax Putin – Not American Billionaires!

As I type this report, I cannot help but wonder if I should make fun of this story of moral retardation, or if I should stop typing and openly weep in front of my staff here in the office. Thinking about the countless trillions in resources that have already been expended trying to destroy Russia’s president, humor seems the most realistic course. I mean, what is Congress going to do, start taxing Putin for undeclared earnings? This is the only patriotic track I can muster for Florida Representative Val Demings and New York’s Rep. Elise M. Stefanik. Maybe their red-white-and-blue intentions are to put money back into America’s coffers by taking it from Russia’s leader?

Oh, but wait, I almost forgot. The whole House of Representatives of the United States of America already passed the law! How lucky are we, to have 435 loyal Americans hell-bent on finding out where Putin hides his gold? The act now goes to the Senate, so we may soon hear of CIA agents, and U.S. Navy Seals bursting into bank vaults, kidnapping Russian caviar dealers, and tracking down Siberian fur traders in Argentina. God knows what kind of spookage will come of this goose chase. Pardon me please. The circus America is becoming is just that nutty. Next, they’ll tell us Putin will pay Amazon’s taxes.

The “Goofy” Truth

Are these elected leaders of ours clowns? Certainly not. Why Rep. Demings hails from Florida’s 10th Congressional District, which is fittingly the home of Mickey Mouse and Disney World. I am sad to say I used to live in this magical part of America, a part which has clearly gone Goofy electing such nincompoop sellouts. Sorry. I will turn my attention to the other “genius” author of this new “Putin law” – Upcountry New York’s Elise M. Stefanik, who proclaimed before Congress:

“Putin and his political allies seek to weaken democracies worldwide by consolidating their political control through unethical means. I am proud to cosponsor this bill which aims to identify Putin and his allies for who they are: nefarious political actors undermining democracies.”

Looking at Stefanik’s record and background, it isn’t a surprise to find a huge vote of confidence sent her way by mad-dog John Bolton, who’s now Trump’s National Security Adviser. Here’s what the biggest warmonger in the Western Hemisphere had to say about the “Putin Transparency Act “ co-author:

“As part of the House Armed Services Committee, Elise Chairs the Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities, where she is responsible for overseeing counterterrorism programs and counter-proliferation of WMD.”

Apply Russian Plywood Sanctions NOW!

WMD, WMD, somehow this nefarious item always turns up, but why? Oh, I get it. Elise M. Stefanik cut her teeth working in the George W. Bush White House too. Somehow, I just don’t see the motivation of an Albany, New York girl keying on Russia’s president without somebody influencing her. Unless Stefanik’s Dad’s plywood business is mad at Putin because of the cost of Russian birch, the best in the world, I am told. Ouch. I hope this is not the case, but maybe Putin does own stock in the world’s biggest birch plywood supplier Sveza? Nah. Premium Plywood, the Stefanik family business is a small-time operator compared to a world leader. Let’s move on to the brilliant law these goofballs have cooked up.

Reading the text of this law, I am once again faced with my childhood nightmares from black and white TV shows like The Outer Limits, Twilight Zone, and the later colored chills of Rod Serling’s Night Gallery. Let me past the intro of the law here, for effect:

“To strengthen the United States response to Russian interference by providing transparency on the corruption of Russian President Vladimir Putin.”

Proof? Who Needs Proof?

Do you get it? Our genius pillars of political and legal thought are trying to create laws on top of laws, which are based on vapor! No one has proven there was Russian interference, and no one has ever shown Vladimir Putin corrupt practices, and America’s chosen leaders blatantly draft the LAW based on conjecture. On the basis of this law, let me say this as a genuine American. Vladimir Putin would be the dumbest leader in history if he thought he needed to “undermine” the American public’s faith in our democratic process. Hell, only the most obtuse soccer mom driving her giant SUV to the nail salon even imagines her vote counts. And she has no time for the voting booth in her quest for perfect hair, shoes, smartphone chats, and daily shopping trips to Publix (for Florida voters). The last time a majority of Americans gave a damn about who won the presidency was in 1968, the year Richard Nixon won.

This “stupid” law even mentions paid “trolls” as the WMDs of Putin’s cyberwar against truth, justice, and the American way. Sorry, I am hearing the early 1960s TV show Superman in my head for some reason. Moving on, the narrative of this law dives deep into hypocrisy and lunatic ideas by pointing a crooked finger at Putin and Russia with:

“The government of Russian President 2 Vladimir Putin employs a system of corruption and 3 illicit financial ties as a tool for consolidating its domestic political control and projecting power abroad 5 to weaken other democratic countries.”

No Hypocrisy Like American Hypocrisy

I must stop here. NEO readers have already suffered enough of this. We’ve covered it all before. What we have not seen is the mind-numbing reality before us. The hopelessness of our American system and our kid dreams of doing good gone awry. These idiots have been given a license to throw trillions out the window, to cause world strife, to create endless war, and with the full approval of the people. I say this not in defense of Vladimir Putin, for he is just the catalyst for understanding how goofed up our system has become. Reading this proposed law, one cannot help but grasp the irony and shame of it all. Read this next segment and reflect for a moment on how the United States sanctions nations and their citizens into chaos like that hitting Venezuela now. These minions of darkness in our Congress accuse Putin of:

“Using the threat of cutting off gas 2 supplies as leverage over the most energy-dependent European countries.”

These silly, head wobbling political puppets drafted this! They admonish the President of the United States to twist the Russians’ arms by not “threatening” to sanction Putin or Russia but actually doing so. Do you read me? I hope so. But there’s more.

Not only does the law demand that the deep state intelligence community make a report to Congress within 6 months, but the lawmakers also allow for a “classified” section of the report on Putin assets. What this means is, if U.S. intelligence finds something that will stain these crooked lawmakers, only Congress will know about it. How plain is that? Furthermore, only committees which have already authorized the witch hunt will receive the nefarious report.

I hope my point is well made. Like most of the rest of you reading this, it would be fun to learn just how rich or poor Vladimir Putin is. Personally, I hope he is, like some say, the richest man in the world. For me, compared to the mediocre psychopaths and lizard people he’s had to fight against, he’s the only leader who truly cared about his country and his people. I believe this is well proven. But the point is, it is none of my business how much Vladimir Putin has. Furthermore, I should not have to pay so that a bunch of sellout liars can waste still more much-needed money to try and stain the man who has clearly beaten them at every turn. Trust me; I would be delighted at this point if my country could produce even one halfway decent adversary for Putin. At least then, even if we were totally and completely wrong, we could see a fair fight.

I only hope the Hollywood blockbuster will have better actors than this Congressional Mickey Mouse cartoon.

Асада. Учитывая, что СДС полностью подконтрольны США, без их одобрения такое было бы невозможно. Что позволяет сделать осторожный вывод о формате возможной сделки Путин-Трамп.

Американский президент вполне может пойти на «программу-максимум» по Сирии, ничем особенным при этом не рискуя: во-первых, России будет передана тотально разрушенная территория, сумма восстановления которой уже обозначена. Б.Асад ранее говорил о 400 миллиардах долларов, но даже 100-150 миллиардов – тяжелейшая ноша для российского бюджета. Внутренних ресурсов у самой САР слишком мало, чтобы оплатить расходы российского бюджета. Сирийской нефти слишком мало – ее и до войны добывали в количествах, не покрывающих потребности самой Сирии. Правда, в стране имеются еще небольшие месторождения газа и есть значительные запасы минералов.

Дело в том, что САР важна не природными ресурсами, а своим важным инфраструктурным положением, находясь на пути возможного прохождения магистральных нефте- и газопроводов из Ирана, Ирака и Катара в Южную Европу. Но в ближайшие 10-15 лет любые региональные и глобальные инфраструктурные проекты на ее разрушенной территории представляются крайне сомнительными. При этом США сохранят контроль над СДС и прочные связи с ним, что сделает их инструментом влияния и давления на Б. Асада и В. Путина в Сирии. Наконец, главная причина, по которой Москва пошла на прямое участие в сирийской войне, так и остается нерешенной: север Сирии все равно остается за Т. Эрдоганом, который не намерен уходить и передавать его Б. Асаду. А значит, у России нет возможности продавить согласие Турции по ключевым параметрам «турецкого потока», оставляя Южный газовый коридор ЕС в качестве его основного конкурента. Причем если у «коридора» есть возможность для расширения, то у «потока» ее нет. Естественно, что такой «подарок» со стороны Вашингтона без выдвижения Москве условий просто невозможен и очевидно, что важнейшим условием передачи востока Сирии России станет ее гарантия Израилю и США относительно присутствия Ирана в Сирии. На Москву явно хотят возложить обязанность по выдавливанию Ирана и его прокси-сил из Сирии и создание барьера, разрывающего «шиитский пояс». Что, без сомнения, обострило бы отношения между Тегераном и Кремлем к удовлетворению США, Саудовской Аравии и Израиля. В сухом остатке такой сделки Москва получит ненужную ей территорию Сирии, тогда как нужная останется за Турцией, а также получит обременение для бюджета в десятки миллиардов долларов, конфликт с Ираном и гражданскую войну, которая будет идти еще долгие годы. Трамп же получит управляемый им конфликт и нового партнера, которого он постарается натравить на своего главного противника в регионе – Иран.

Помимо согласия России, для выхода на «сделку» по Сирии нужно иметь хорошие результаты военной операции в южной зоне деэскалации – в провинции Дераа. На сегодня многие отряды оппозиции уже капитулировали, а сирийская армия освободила 70 городов и селений на востоке и юго-востоке провинции Дараа. При подобном раскладе США весьма обеспокоены судьбой «Джабхат ан-Нусры», которая не сможет получить поддержку из соседней Иордании. В США прекрасно осознают, что положение их сил на юге незавидное. Достаточно вспомнить недавнюю ситуацию в Восточной Гуте, которая перешла под контроль правительственных сил, а проамериканские силы оказались в «кольце». Понятно, что если ситуация в Дераа не будет урегулирована, что вряд ли случится, Д.Трамп поднимет вопрос о судьбе «Джабхат ан-Нусры», часть которой находится еще и в Идлибе. Ему важно защитить интересы Иордании и Израиля, а под Иорданией подразумеваются США и Великобритания. По сути, Иордания является одной из сторон, ответственных за ситуацию в южной зоне деэскалакации, и ее присутствие там объясняется несколькими ключевыми причинами. Во-первых, число беженцев из-за последних событий достигло 270 тыс. человек, что создало миграционную проблему для Аммана, кроме того, вместе с беженцами на территорию королевства проникли боевики, которые опасны для правящей хашемитской семьи. Во-вторых, с 2013 года Иордания стала одним из плацдармов для борьбы в Сирии – из королевства на территорию САР доставлялась помощь для оппозиции и террористических организаций. В-третьих, Иордания традиционно представляет на Ближнем Востоке интересы Великобритании, которая весь период сирийского конфликта присутствовала в контексте «международная коалиция» во главе с США.

Успехи сирийской армии не могли оставить равнодушным и Израиль, который усилил группировку войск на Голанских высотах, направив в район близ границы с Сирией подразделения артиллерии и бронетанковых войск. Большую тревогу в Израиле вызывает расположение иранских подразделений в Сирии. Несмотря на то, что часть «Хезболлы» еще в конце мая – начале июня была переведена в район Хомса и Хамы, все же антииранская риторика Израиля продолжается, равно как и постоянные контакты премьер–министра Израиля Биньямина Нетаньяху с Россией и США. Тель-Авив рассчитывает добиться через Москву снижения присутствия и влияния ИРИ в САР. Иначе существует вероятность прямого столкновения Ирана и Израиля в воздушном пространстве Сирии. США явно хотят перестраховаться с «сирийского фланга». В противном случае Израиль окажется в «котле». С одной стороны Сирия, с другой – Ливан и «Хезболла», с третьей – палестинский «ХАМАС». Принимая во внимание тот факт, что Израиль и Саудовская Аравия при активной поддержке США, уже давно приступили к кампании по разворачиванию войны с Ираном, Сирия может стать плацдармом ИРИ для противостояния Израилю, не говоря уже о размещении вблизи северных израильских границ подразделений «Хезболлы». В таком случае единственный, кто может «сдерживать» Иран в Сирии, – это Россия.

При нынешней обстановке на мировой арене в интересах Д. Трампа хоть как-то нормализовать отношения США с РФ и договориться по сирийскому конфликту. Во-первых, торговая война с ЕС, антироссийские санкции, выход из СВПД практически разделили трансатлантический союз. Европа предпочла защищать свои экономические и идеологические интересы. Иными словами, США в определенной степени развернули ЕС к России. Во-вторых, Китай. В последние месяцы отношения с КНР и США переживают не лучший период. Одни пошлины заменяют другие, при этом Китай является главным торговым партнером России. Складывается следующая картина: с одной стороны США, с другой – Россия и КНР, с третьей – ЕС. В-третьих, не стоит забывать о том, что 6 ноября должны состояться выборы в Конгресс США. Налаживание отношений с Россией было одним из ключевых моментов в предвыборной кампании Трампа. Исходя из этого, американский президент попытается не упустить возможность занять для своей Республиканской партии как можно больше мест в обеих палатах Конгресса. И для него исход саммита в Хельсинки, в том числе по Сирии, весьма важен. Как, в общем, важен и для России, хоть и не в такой степени. На сегодня РФ может не спешить, учитывая как идет военная операция на юге САР. Для Москвы важнее договориться с Вашингтоном по санкционному досье, гонке вооружений и Украине. А вот здесь американцы явно не спешат идти на серьезные компромиссы.

The string of unfounded accusations against Russia for its alleged interference in various elections across the world has been voiced by Western political and media figures for over a year now. In fact, we’re witnessing an unprecedented propaganda campaign aimed at discrediting a single country. Yet, with the next presidential election nearing in Russia, the West doesn’t seem to be ashamed to make an attempt to rig the election process in Russia. First of all, it has started publishing a series of publications aimed at discrediting the candidates that are not pedaling Western agenda. Then, there a string of Russian-language sites that are living off the money of American taxpayers provided by Washington speading anti-Putin propaganda, so it’s no wonder that those sites are officially recognized as foreign agents in Russia. It’s been reported that every second article on those websites is aimed at discrediting  Russia’s President Vladimir Putin or urges Russian citizens to boycott the election. What is especially striking to any objective pro-democracy observer is that no other opinion is being allowed to be featured in those peaces, even though those sites are owned by the self-proclaimed champion of democracy – Washington. The days when Western media sources even tried to pretend that they were aware that journalism as a profession is an art of various opinions are long gone now, alas.

As for English-speaking media platforms, those couldn’t care less about covering the upcoming election objectively, as they are just ignoring the statements made by Russian authorities, while claiming to be innocent in spites of their repeated violations of the fundamental principle of impartiality.

The all-out propaganda assault against Russia is led by the well-known CIA mouthpieces – the Voice of America and Radio Free Europe. Those are trying to show the White House that they can still be viable in its face-off with Russia by accusing various officials in of various abuses aimed at  illegally obtaining signatures in Putin’s support. At the same time, even the most die-hard Putin bashers recognize that he leads the presidential race in Russia, with more than 70% of Russia’s population being willing to vote for him, as polls show. This fact by itself excludes any need for any of Putin’s supporters to try to cut corners in assisting Putin in obtaining enough signatures to become a nominated candidate. However, those Western journalists prefer to ignore such facts all together, as they’ve been paid in advance to jump on the anti-Russian bandwagon early.

In order to explain to the American reader the differences between the Russian “undemocratic” election process and the American “ultra-democratic” one, The National Interest chose to publish a comparison in a bid to glorify the “US-style democracy.” However, this attempt was clearly not in favor of the US, showing that in the last year’s parliamentary election in Russia a total of fourteen parties was allowed to compete.

Against this backdrop things don’t look all that grand in the US, as only two parties are allowed to compete for power in the US. It’s true that in recent years certain representatives of libertarians and greens have been allowed to take part in televised debates in the US. However, those parties present no competition to the leading contenders whatsoever as they’ve been under harsh control of US intelligence agencies for decades, avoiding every chance to ask uncomfortable questions, choosing to advance such ideas as weapons bans and abortion rights.

There’s yet another joke that Western media sources are trying to present to their readers with a serious face that can be summed up in the notion that the all-powerful Kremlin is somehow afraid of a single pro-Western candidate – Alexei Navalny. However, Western states do not allow convicted criminals to contend in any officially recognized elections, but they still insist that Russia should try doing it for a change. Why not? Maybe then we will see all sorts of felons winning elections in the US, UK and other Western states.

Even a person that hasn’t been following Russia’s politics for a considerable period of time is able to spot that Western media sources have abandoned any attempts to analyze Navalny’s political views. Every single media source one can come across tells his about his allegedly brilliant idea of boycotting the presidential election, but that’s pretty much it. Yet, last year some Western media sources would be bold enough to criticize him for his racist views. As it’s been noted by the Salon magazine, any mention of Navalny’s links with neo-Nazi groups, xenophobic comments and extreme anti-immigrant views have miraculously disappeared from the Western media.

So, in spite of the media support Navalny receives in the West, the reasoning behind the decision of the Russian Constitutional Court to put an end to his attempts to compete in the presidential election is pretty much self-explanatory. So any further attempts to make Navalny look as the ultimate victim of the “repressive regime in Moscow” fail to hide the fact that he has been transformed into a “political tool” of the Western elites a long while ago. As it’s been noted, we should always be asking ourselves: what kind of freedom is absolute? Which right is inherent?

That is why one can’t help but agree with the Italian Secolo d’Italia that underlines the fact that the Western propaganda campaign against Putin is devoid of any sense, as it tries to support two liberal pseudo-candidates sponsored by the West: Ksenia Sobchak, known as the “Russian Paris Hilton”, and Alexei Navalny, known for a long list of crimes he committed in Russia. Those two are no match to Putin, a seasoned politician that is well-respected across the world. Both Sobchak and Navalny criticize Russia’s reunification of Crimea with Russia, that was supported by 97% of Crimeans back in 2014. They also criticize Russia’s participation in the Syrian conflict, while ignoring the fact that it was started after an official invitation of the legitimate Syrian government, while all of the Western states are still operating in Syria illegally. If one wants to know who are Putin’s competitors for real he should take a look at the Social Party leader Gennady Zyuganov and the charismatic ultranationalist Vladimir Zhirinovsky.
